Today, my girlfriend dumped me. This poses a problem, because her mother is my boss, and we work in an office on the first story of their apartment. Tomorrow I have to decide whether to quit my awesome and only job, or go to work for my now ex's mother in their house. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unexpected
Today, I quit my job that my girlfriend and I worked together at. Fellow employees are not allowed to date one another and I said it would be ok if I was the one to leave. When I got home to her and told her that I quit, she decided to break up with me. I now have no job and no girlfriend. FML
Stuck on amber
Today, I went to see my boyfriend with the intention of breaking up with him. Instead I discovered that he lost his job today and has to move back in with his parents. I can't bring myself to dump someone who's already crying about his horrible day. Now I have to comfort my soon-to-be ex. FML
Today, I was working my shift and my ex girlfriend came in to apply for a job. She broke up with me for another guy so i can't stand being in the same room as her. The manager talked to her and decided to hire her on the spot. I need to train her. FML
Can't choose
Today, I had a job interview. Everything was cool, until I found out that the HR recruiter was my mother-in-law. She told me that the work was mine if I break up with her daughter. I have until the next Wednesday to think about it. FML
Today, the girl my ex-boyfriend cheated on me with had a job interview at my place of work. If she gets the job, she'll be my manager. FML
Today, my girlfriend came to my workplace to tell me she was breaking up with me. My boss, who was passing by, fired me for "chatting with friends" during work hours. FML
Today, I found out my ex is applying for a job at my current company. She may become my boss. FML
Today, my boss fired me because he wants to start dating my mother and apparently doesn't want it to be "awkward." FML
Today, after getting fired, I went home only to find my boss sitting my living room. Apparently, he and my mom had been dating for months and he felt compelled to let me go because it was a "conflict of interest". FML
Today, I was fired from a managerial position I've held for two years due to "inappropriate relations with a subordinate": I was dating a coworker. My girlfriend then broke up with me four hours later. Because I no longer had a job. I hired her. FML

At least it's only the first story. That's a survivable fall if you get thrown out the window by either the ex or the mother ...

Unless your now ex-girlfriend is making it seem like you dumped her and creating drama, i don't see how this is a problem. Talk with your 'boss' outside of working time because work and home drama should not mix. It's not professional.

Her mother will get over it, and if it's a kick ass job, don't quit it!

Go to work and take your time to find a new job or decide it will ok to be there

Hopefully your ex's mother will be professional and won't take your personal life out on you at work. Make a point of being professional and kind when you come into work, and don't bring up the breakup unless you are asked. Be clear that you love your job and don't want this to impact your working relationship, and hopefully it will all iron itself out. Good luck!

Keep the job, but if your ex's mom makes life hell find a new one.

I agree with #29, keep it professional. Go in, do your job and don't bring it up unless asked. If you're asked about it, just let your boss know that you love your job and would like to continue working there. If it's uncomfortable, look for something else in the interim while kkeeping your job.

maybe the mom will be understanding and let you keep the job.

Keep your awesome job. You're gonna get over it one day. It will be hard in the next days but it will worth it at the end. People shouldn't throw everything away for their ex!

Keep the job she broke up with you not the other way around. This is your livelihood. If her mom asks why you broke up just say she broke up with you
