Today, I was woken up by a call from "the Nuisance Call Prevention Registry". The lady on the telephone didn't see the irony. FML

Halloween

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.

Woman: Hello, this is the Nuisance Call Prevention Registry. Have I called you at a good time? OP: **** you, I'm sleeping. Woman: Excuse me? OP: I SAID **** YOU! Woman: Congratulations, you're now officially a nuisance.

Probably because "it's not her job to have a sense I humour" Damn peoples

I dont even bother answering those 1800 calls

The irony is strong I can smell it in the air. op, perhaps tomorrow night the suicide prevention hotline will call you and tell you to go kill yourself.

wow. talk about annoying...

Technically that's not irony so I understand why she couldn't see it. That's the way we use it in everyday speak but it's actually incorrect.

Well go figure...

I'm not sure that the Nuisance Call Prevention Agency exists.

The Nuisance Call Prevention Registry does exist, but it's a dodgy commercial enterprise (CPR Global), operating from a call centre above a night club in Swansea. (Google it and see the post on the MoneySavingExperts forum). They charge customers for blocking calls with international companies, but only when you sign up do they tell you in the small print that they charge more than 35 pounds for this service. I'm sure this will be contradicted soon by a newly registered user, who claims to be a happy customer...
