Today, I realized I can't afford to break up with my boyfriend of 2 years, as we split the rent. I'll need a second job just to get out of my bad relationship. FML

OP here. I can't live with a roommate, did that for 4 years and learned a lot about what happens when your roomie doesn't come up with their half of the rent, and lost way too many friends that way. It would be worse than what I'm dealing with now. Our apartment is already the cheapest in town, I don't have parents or friends to move in with. The bright side is, my boyfriend is NOT abusive. And to the nasty comments that say YDI for using him for money, I clearly stated we split the rent.

Find a share with a roommate. There are plenty of available rooms if you look for them.

You can still break up, maybe sit down with him and talk about your relationship, and how things have changed from when you started dating, you may be surprised he might even feel the same way, and you can figure out the best way to end your relationship amicably. And even have enough time to figure out your living arrangements.

If they're sharing the rent she can't just kick him out, it's his place too, he has as much of a right to stay as she does

One of the reason why some women can't get a divorce and away from an abusive relationship.

I have been saying that about my GF for 7 years now FML

I'm just glad I've never been in this position. I saw this happen to my sister and my brother so I made a rule never to have a GF as a roommate. So far it's minimized the drama in my life.

I´m not a native speaker so maybe I don´t get it right but does a "bad relationship" always mean (especially when a woman says it) that the partner is an abusive a**hole? Maybe she likes someone else or they just have different opinions on things? If they are on the lease together I don´t see how one can kick out the other "because they don´t like the other person anymore"....

We do live in that world, but people want more than an entry level job will support these days and will not settle for less. Slum apartments are dead cheap, but the majority of the population sees it as beneath them to consider moving into one, even if it's all they can afford.

Been there and did that. Get the second job and kick him to the curb. You'll thank yourself later.

This is no excuse. You could stay with a friend, family member, or find someone who needs a roommate. If you are in a bad relationship then you need to take responsibility and find a way out of there, not complain that you can't afford to pay the rent all by yourself.
