Today, I told my girlfriend that my grandma died, expecting to be comforted. She got mad at me for "stealing her thunder" because her cat died two days ago. FML

Oh wow, reminds me of how my mom found out she was pregnant with my brother the day my aunt gave birth to her first child and my grandma said "how dare you steal (aunt's name)'s thunder

That is one selfish, self-centered woman. She was actually looking forward to being able to go around telling everyone about her cat so she could get attention and sympathy over it!!! You might be better off without that kind of person in your life. And - HEY - if you dump her, then she'll have something else to wail and be given about, so you're giving her back her thunder.
