Where I live, many bikers don't realize this, but you are considered a vehicle and have to obey the exact same rules of the road as cars, you're essentially a manual motorbike, anything a motorbike isn't allowed to do, you're not allowed to do either. That means, traffic lights and all signs including stop, yield, playground/school zones and speed limits apply to you too. You should be going close to the posted speed limit, if you can't, you should be on the side/shoulder of the road so you don't impede traffic, and going above it is just as illegal as cars.
where i live bikes are special and dont stop for nothing even red lights
it's a huge issue here in my city. people get ran over by bikers and they speed away. So I'm glad you got pulled over and ticketed. you're a vehicle, learn the rules of the road.
There's people out here getting speeding tickets on their bikes and I'm here barely able to ride one because I'm uncoordinated...
Although what you did was bad, you can't help but feel good about breaking the speed limit on a bike.
That's a badge of honor. Frame it.
