Today, we've liked each other for two and a half years, but he could never get out of his relationship. He finally did, and I was waiting a respectful amount of time to tell him I loved him. I asked him to hang out and he told me "I would but I've been seeing somebody and it's serious."

I mean could you expect anything less? If he was already seeing someone else before you I can't say it's surprising that he was talking to more than one person since it's shitty of him to be emotionally cheating on his girlfriend at the time with you.

Sorry for that, op, but it seems to me he's just been stringing you along for years, and that he probably left his partner for his new fling, not you. Had he truly been committed, you would have been together. Hopefully a part of you knows this too and is ready to find someone, who truly wants you.
