Today, the case I ordered online for my new phone came in the mail, I decided to test it by casually dropping it. My phone is now shattered. FML

Honestly, you deserved it. Even if a case will protect a little from damage, dropping it on purpose is still stupid. To bad about your phone though.

"I broke my phone by purposely doing an act known to break phones..." why wouldn't you deserve it

YDI. I confess that the advertising for those "shockproof, waterproof, bulletproof" cases makes me wanna test them. But something called common sense stops me from purposely dropping my iPhone just to check if a 10 bucks case can handle it...

I'm not quite following those who claim YDI. I got one of those Otter Box cases with the triple blah blah protection and the first thing i did was run a drop test to make sure it does its job. If it doesn't the day I bought it, it won't do its job 6mo from now. At least this way you can get your shit replaced. 30+ drops later, not a scratch on my phone. In love with this me-proof case. Anyway hope you got your stuff replaced OP, you get a warranty on those things, use it.

To check if it breaks 6 months from now, you'll test it out NOW? PURPOSELY? What??? So if the FIRST case shatters your phone, you'll get your phone fixed and get a different case & repeat? Where is the logic in this?

You have to pay to get a warranty and then pay a deductible on top of that. You can't replace a cracked screen at no charge. Never drop test an electronic device. Case or not. You're both ******* stupid.

Protective cases is like an insurance. You buy it in case something happens but hope you will never need it.

You should buy vehicles like this. They say a Dodge Caravan can take a 45mph hit to either the side and you'll be fine inside in any seat . . .
