Today, my life is so boring that I started looking through my can of coins and sorting them out by year. The oldest coin I have is from 1963. FML

Archaeology
Today, I discovered that the ancient looking coin I dug up in my front yard is worth hundreds of dollars. Too bad I found that coin when I was eight years-old, and have since misplaced it. FML
Simple pleasures
Today, I’m so broke I actually got excited at finding a 5p coin as it meant I actually had a coin to put in my musical change jar. The kicker, it’s been so long since I last put change in there, the battery had gone flat so it didn’t play its little jingle noise. FML
Foldin' money
Today, I went to the bank to get a jar of coins exchanged for cash via a fancy counter machine. After 30 minutes I was handed a bag of rolling sleeves and was told to do it myself. Good news, I have a lot more money than I thought. Bad news, I have A LOT more coins than I thought. FML
Antiques Roadshow
Today, I got home and found my kids playing with my coin collection. My wife told me to stop being grouchy because it’s not like they’re silver and gold. No, but they were all mint condition, some of them very rare, and every scratch the kids just put on them has halved their value or worse. FML
Today, I came home to find that my mother had sold all my valuable collector coins for cheap at a local shady pawn shop to buy herself a TV. The coins in question were worth enough to start a business. FML
Today, I'm so poor that I've been scrounging around my house all day trying to find quarters and dimes so that I can buy myself a cup of coffee tomorrow. FML
Today, while paying for groceries, I opened my wallet to find that all my cash had been exchanged for Monopoly money. FML
Today, I realized that the closest thing I have to a savings account is the cup on my dresser with coins in it. I counted it, $17.34. That is my savings. I'm 28. FML
Today, my dad found a couple of coins on the floor next to my desk, and gave me a lecture about how money doesn't grow on trees and how irresponsible I am when it comes to money. They were Chuck E. Cheese tokens. FML
Today, I spent my afternoon rummaging through old jeans and other pants, due to being broke and needing cash for ramen. FML

Try coin collecting. It's a very fun hobby that I personally enjoy. I've got coins from Australia, Canada, Mexico, and Europe and you don't necessarily have to travel. Banks can easily exchange money for little or no fee. Even pressed pennies are fun to collect :)

Have you ever considered a career as a private investigator

Honestly OP I don't see anything bad about this. At least you have something valuable in your possession and the value will increase with time.

Life is too short to be bored. Put some quarters in a homeless man's cup. Buy some seeds and plant a garden. Make a wish at a wishing well. Take a bus ride to some place you haven't seen. Buy some mouthwash and soak your contacts in it.

Save up for a nice computer and use it for gaming. It shouldn't be that hard if you build it yourself, and I'm sure you can figure out how to do that online. It will be worth it, too, games on the PC are very fun. You can go to http://www.humbleindiebundle.com and get packs of indie games literally making your own price. And get steam, too. There are many reasons to take a PC over console, but you can look those up too because I don't have a good way to come back and check my comment for replies so I don't want to argue about PC vs. console here.

With OPs life, he'll probably put the one quarter that has value into some homeless persons cup. Next day, said homeless person is wearing an Armani suit.

oh well, some days are bummer! keep putting the coins back; you never know when a rare one will show up. several years ago, I received a 1901 penny in change from McD's.

They didn't start making pennies until 1909.
mistertbawk420 10
That's entirely false. Look up the 1901 Indian head penny.

I was talking about regular pennies.

Do something actually productive
meli1195 31
Who said this isn't productive? OP could happen to find a valuable coin and get a lot of money. Plus there's a lot of coin collectors and it's productive for them.
