Today, my girlfriend of over a year decided to tell me she doesn't want kids and doesn't want to be with someone who has kids. I have a 5 year old. That she has known about since day one. FML

Opinions CAN change. Especially if a person is raised hearing, "You'll want them when your older," and other bullshit all their life. If this is the first time she's been in a parenting like role, it might have been the first time she realized that she doesn't want to be a parent. It still sucks that you spent that much time with someone with divergent desires, but better to find out now than later, as thin of a silver lining as that is.

It's a shame but respect her wishes and find a girl that wants to be a Mom. Better to find someone that really wants kids than have it forced on her and she end up resentful...

Well, that sucks, but better you found out after a year rather than having it sprung on you 10 years down the line. I'm not going to pass judgement on her, could be she genuinely didn't know she didn't want to be a parent until she tried it.
