Today, it's my fifth wedding anniversary. My wife bailed on the romantic dinner that I arranged in favor of running off with her friends. Their big event: an amateur Fight Club event they'd decided to stage in an abandoned parking lot. FML

And she talked to you about it? No wonder it's amateur.

Call the cops and get her little fight club broke up. She can spend your anniversary in jail... You are free to go out.

46 - Thank you. Rationality seems in short supply in these comments tonight.

Sounds like you need to step up your game a bit...if that's her consideration of a good night...

I see nothing wrong with this.

Can you blame her, watching real fight is more fun than some lame dinner.

yeah she a total keeper.... no seriously if you're that upset I'll marry her myself

Hey I know I'm most likely going to get downvoted for this, but I have to ask. Why is it when a fml is posted about a guy doing this people say he's a jerk, but when it's a woman everyone says it's cool? It's like when a guy hits a woman is bad, but it's okay for a girl to hit a guy. I never got why most people see things this way. I just want a legitimate answer.

Because, News Flash, the world is not fair. Women have endured thousands of years of discrimination and now when they are getting a little leeway to make compensate for that, you are complaining? And in any case, such positive discrimination is done only in very light issues. Women are still being discriminated against in all the other spheres. So, cut them slack. Also if you read all the comments, they are evenly divided between bashing and favoring the wife, but you are simply focusing on the ones favoring her. Confirmation bias? All this said, all kind of discrimination suck, but hey, the world is not fair.

It's just because of typical sexist stereotypes. Women are seen as the helpless, weak ones so everybody rushes to their defence when something bad happens to them. Men are seen as the strong people who can take care of themselves, and in general aren't allowed to show a whole lot of sensitivity. Ever heard the term "man up"? It's only quite recently that women have actually been supported though, as DarkPrincess said. Before, they were considered second-class to men so nobody batted an eyelash when they were treated badly. Now that we're all equal under the law, everybody's coddling the poor, weak women. Equality? Technically, yes. End of discrimination? Not so much. Stereotypes are going to exist for a looonngg time yet.
