Today, it's been almost 3 weeks since Christmas. It's also been almost 3 weeks since I sliced my thumb open on a (gift) knife from one side to the other and required 6 stitches. On top of that, no insurance means two grand in debt that I don't have.... FML

You must be in America then, being poor charges interest here.

Maybe you can sell the knives to start paying down the debt?

Being uninsured and poor here makes the interest rate even higher, since they fine you for not having insurance. Our government officials just like doing their own colonoscopies with their heads, apparently.

Ya it sucks not having medical insurance but for minor cuts say less than 1/4 inch deep butterfly tape works great and if there deeper but aren't bleeding profusely (like ya didn't hit a vain or artery) most pharmacy's now sell that human glue used in surgery it's expensive about $50 for a tiny vile (liquid stitch),than cover with butterfly tape always clean with warm water and mild soap, NEVER clean wounds that are more than skin deep with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, use a clean bandage and apply a thin layer of antibacterial cream to bandage ,wrap with gauze ,change bandage daily

It’s been ten weeks since Christmas, nice job FML. Although I understand that due to extensive moderating, thorough spelling checks and format supervision, it takes some time for the quality FML’s to get through, like we’ve been seeing for the past three months.

Wtf??? 6 stitches means 2k?? Seriously?

2 grand is rediclous! i live in canada, here that would have been a 6-8 hour wait at a hospital and free. altho i would have stitched it myself, i used to live way out in the bush where its hard to get medical services when you need them.In a pinch a sterilized sowing needle and some plastic(-not silk )fishing line will work well. The needle can be sterilized with a lighter heated red hot then wiped with an alcohol pad to take off any soot.Bite down on some fabric since its gonna be a little unpleasant.

Did you know superglue can he used as stitches? I had superglue stitches before done IN the ER. I also needed a tetanus shot, so I couldn't pick that up down the office supply aisle.... darn it.
