First, if you’re prescribed it why are you not taking it. Second, quitting a drug cold turkey is always much harder than slowly lowering the amount you take to zero.
I was prescribed oxy for pain to be taken only as I needed it and was instructed to switch to acetaminophen as soon as the pain was tolerable, while I could have taken half a pill for a couple days to ease the transition I wanted to get it over and done with. I have a consistent stomach problem that I’ve had for about 5 years and I can handle a lot of nausea and pain, but I understand how people who aren’t used to feeling so sick would keep taking the drugs to a point of abuse to keep from feeling it again.
