I don't think OP got hit in the face- if they had, why would they be surprised over the bloody nose? It seems more likely that the exertion made OP's heart beat faster, raising their blood pressure, and caused the vessel to burst. Either it burst while they were saying farewells, or it possibly burst earlier, but the pressure was enough to act as a makeshift tourniquet... Granted, the second is speculation on my part, as I don't know for certain if that is the case as I haven't had nose bleeds in a while.

No, people in boxing classes are strongly recommended not to spar until they've had at least 6 months practice, OP might be an amateur.
