I learned about this in one of my psychology courses. You are actually more likely to get mugged in larger crowds. It's due to bystander effect. Everyone thinks that someone else will do something. But the cool thing is, as soon as one person bravely makes the effort to help, then multiple people will feel "okay" to assist. Sorry that happened to you though. Like it really sucks! :( Hope you were able to cancel your cards in time and weren't carrying anything like cash or your SIN card.
