if she was at fault she or her insurance has to pay. if they don't, you sue her and her insurance. someone has to pay.
Depending on what state you're in, the minimum required insurance by state law should have coverage for damages to the other car if you are at fault. Meaning that she should at a miminum cover damages to your car.
Since it's a classic car, the state minimum might not be enough to pay for all the damage. But that doesn't explain why they're refusing to pay, except for, you know, not wanting to.
I had a 66 GTO I restored that was rear ended. The assholes insurance company wasn't going to pay because they decided it was too old and not worth much. I had to sue both the guy and his insurance company, I won and it turned out to be a better payday than I ever dreamed of.
Yeah, I'm not one to call a lawyer but this is a situation that calls for one because it was clearly her fault and someone needs to pay to fix such a classic!
That's what happens when people don't pay for collision coverage on their vehicle. You have to get a lawyer and sue. You will win, and she will have to pay your court costs on top of your repairs and personal damages like time you may have to take off work or any injuries you may have sustained. Good luck.
In the US, collision coverage only applies for your own vehicle when the accident was your fault. Liability insurance is for when you hit someone else and it's your fault. The other person's liability insurance is what should cover this accident. I could go into much more detail, but I think we all have better things to do.
I'm not one to usually shout "sue" but I'd sue that lady & her insurance company. She was at fauot, she should pay.
I'm guessing the thing that people don't understand is that most car values are based on a depreciating value. An insurance company will say a 1966 was $2500 new in '66 so that value goes down every year. Today it is worth nothing according to an insurance company, although it might actually cost $50K to actually buy/replace one.
