Today, I was again accused by the muslim girls at my college of commiting "cultural appropiation" because I was using a headscarf that resembled their hijab. This is the fifth time they insult me for it, even though I have explained to them I learned the folding from my colombian grandmother. FML

Cultural Appropriation in of itself is a stupid concept. The whole freaking world is a blend of different cultures that have been taking things from other cultures since the human race began.

I’m a Muslima but I don’t wear the headscarf because I came to Islam later in life. I really don’t see why it’s a big deal and they’re being so anal. People need to learn to have respect for others and actually learn what actual cultural appropriation is. And in addition to that, it’s not like ONE symbol of a person’s religion means you’re suddenly copying them and trying to uptake their religious characteristics 🤷‍♀️
