Today I walked into the kitchen to find my father Homer Simson style strangling my mother. I flew in, took him down and gave him a bit of a kicking. I'm now evesdropping on them talking. He wants to call the cops and have me arrested. She isn't going to tell the cops what really happened. FML

Op I am so sorry you had to witness that. Good on you though for protecting your mom. Your dad however sounds like a huge asshole. I really hope he won't actually press charges. It sounds to me that your mom may be to scared to tell the truth. If I were you I would go down to the police station and make a report before he does. You don't have to press charges but just have them right up a report, that way if your dad does go to the cops they already know the true story and will be more likely to believe you. Also try and have a talk with your mom when your dad isn't home, she may be to scared to leave him. Also there should be resources in your area for children in domestic abuse situations. Good luck, and I hope you and your mom will be ok.

the world needs more people like you OP. your mom is way to scared to go against his wishes. its not fair to you, but thats how it is with abuse victims. i hope that it goes well for you. xox
