Today, I surprised my daughter by telling her that I'm going to treat the family to a trip to the Himalayas in a few months. She promptly threw a tantrum and listed her main reasons for not wanting us to go: "It's a freaking desert there," and, "I'll miss the new Spiderman movie." FML

What she really means is that she wants you guys to go ahead so her and her bf can have the house to themselves.

Simple solution: leave the brat at home and enjoy your trip. You know she'd only whine about the "weird food" and "thin air" anyway.

If I was your daughter I would be jumping up and down...you can watch spiderman any time you want but a trip to the Himalayas is once in a lifetime! Adopt me?

...its not really a "once-in-a-lifetime" as long as she doesn't die anytime soon than she can go whenever she wants later in life. Something like going to the moon is "once in a lifetime," but I can book a flight for the Himalayas that leaves tomorrow in about 5 minutes.

Leave the brat at home. She's too stupid to enjoy it, anyway.

Although it sounds confusing, she is partly right, and you people she learn biomes. Because part (most) of the Himalayas is tundra, but also part is what's called a frozen desert (snow desert.) So she's not that dumb.

She's a dumb bimbo who cares more about watching a Hollywood movie than travelling the world a little and broadening her horizons. I really doubt she's smart enough to be a pedantic ****.

"Dumb bimbo" really? Not everyone has the same taste.

Obviously this isn't one of those smart kids who would refer to something as a desert because of it's dryness. She clearly thinks it's hot and doesn't understand the concept of dvds.

Well, to be fair, that Spider-Man movie does look kind of interesting...

lol @ comments Honestly, I don't see the point of traveling. You can find pictures of that shit on google if you want to know what it looks like, and it costs thousands of dollars less and doesn't require a week of travel. If she doesn't want to go, then whatever. Leave her at home. Even if someone was paying for the trip, I still wouldn't want to go. Too much work. Every time I've gone on vacation, I've been so wiped out when I got back that I felt like I needed another vacation just to recover. Sure, the time you spend actually at your destination is awesome, but so isn't spending a day with friends. The effort necessary to take a vacation isn't worth it for some people.

Pictures are not even close to the same experience. Traveling isn't about the money, its about going places people only wish they could go to. I know this, I traveled to Australia before, the Sydney Opera House is much much cooler in person. Anyway OP if you read this leave her and take me with you. I won't be a pain and I will keep to myself :)

Omg! Get off the couch!!! There is a great big world out there! If you want to stay in a rut; stay put and just read about other peoples adventures. Sorry to be judging you, but you need to travel!!!

#34; some people like to travel, some people don't. Theres nothing wrong with not wanting to go anywhere. I personally like traveling but I do have to agree, it can be really exhausting and I usually need to plan for a mini resting vacation immediately afterwards.

@34: Traveling isn't about the money? Yeah, okay, go tell that to someone who can't afford a vacation. I know the experience isn't the same as a picture, but honestly, for the money, time and effort a vacation costs I would rather stay at home. It just isn't worth it, for me at least. But then again, I'm not filthy rich with so much free time I get bored. I don't have much money and I have shit that needs to get done. Taking a vacation is not worth the expense. @48: I do get off the couch. However, I don't want to travel the world. That takes a lot of time, money and energy. I'm okay with reading about other peoples adventures. Like I said, the expense and effort required to get the experience just isn't worth it for me. I've been on vacations before, and I know that, personally, vacations just aren't worth it. I would rather not go anywhere and spend a few days just hanging out here. That is more fun for me. lol @ haters. Some people just don't like traveling thousands of miles to visit what can pretty well be explained with a few words and pictures. I'm one of those people. Seriously, it's like the FML community just automatically thumbs down anyone who makes a well thought out comment AGAINST the popular opinion without even trying to retort.

I agree completely. Whether you like to travel or not has NOTHING to do with your intellect, physical state, personality or how open-minded you are. People like different things, end of.

Well that seems fair enough. I guess it depends on the person and their personal interests. I like the traveling thing though, I always have. Exploring and seeing in person is what gets me going.

Wow, lots of hate coming from Mr. #32. Maybe vacationing is or isn't for her. But when someone offers you something that big for free and you don't want it, the correct reaction is NOT to throw a tantrum about it. I think most people are upset that she's being ungrateful, not necessarily attacking her preference. Me, I personally might turn down such a trip too. But I certainly wouldn't throw a tantrum about it. I'd be really touched and flattered at the offer.
