OP here! Thanks for the funny comments! This actually happened a couple of years ago - it was my first tatt and was only told to rub it regularly with savlon until it healed, and to sleep on my stomach. I ended up jumping in the shower and soaked the duvet to peel off slowly. As seen from my profile pic it wasn't damaged in the end and turned out pretty damn sweet!

Show it anywaydidn't the artist tell you how to deal with stuff like that? get it wet and it will come off.
Screw the duvet, get in the shower and take a hot one if that doesn't work, soak in a hot bath that should get it to come off with the least damage to your tattoo
You need to learn how to take care of your tattoo. Chances are, you just ruined your tattoo while peeling off the duvet...
If you need to keep it covered during the night I suggest wearing a T-shirt or getting a very loose bandage. I didn't keep my tattoo covered for more than a few hours. Get H2Ocean. It's first aid for tattoos. It definitely helped with the healing process.
when I read this at first, I confused a duvet and a bidet... needless to say I was curious as to how that happened
YDI on that one. Tattoo artists always tell you to keep a new tattoo covered with clothing so your blanket won't get stuck. Your fault for not listening to your artist.
If it's brand new, not sleeping directly on it is good policy. Otherwise, moisturizer and general care

It is part of you now, best to move on and accept your new body.
I wouldn't do either. Get a spray bottle of water and wet it, hopefully that will detach it but don't rip it off, picking/pulling off the scabs can pull out the ink, and damage the tattoo.
