Today, I meant to say I really admired Fredrick Douglas (prominent African-American scholar), but instead a said I admired Stephen Douglas (white politician who wanted to expand slavery). This was in a video for the black student union. FML

scholar? you mean abolitionist and social reformer? he was more known for what he did and what he stood for rather than what he wrote though he did write 3 prominent books.. still.. Definitely mostly known for being an abolitionist than anything scholarly... as for starters never had proper schooling nor went to college... his youth being spent as a slave in all (though he did learn to read from other children [white children however] and observation when still a child and slave. He was extremely bright despite no proper tutoring!
