The guy said he'd had a vasectomy, so if they were exclusive partners, OP really had very little reason to use a condom. Maybe it would have been a good idea, but condoms fail too- and in fact fail FAR more often than vasectomies. It's also a bit bullshit to put the full blame on the person with a womb for not being "safe" enough- it takes two to tango, and if the other partner missteps, they're just as responsible for the mistake.

ok but a vasectomy removes the need for a condom by preventing sperm from entering the stream. either he lied or the surgeon did a crappy job there is no other option
