Today, I found out my dad spent most of the $500 I earned from mowing lawns on an Xbox 360 for himself. He was the one who encouraged me to put the money in the bank for college and to learn responsibility. I'm 14 years old. He's 37. FML

See if it's possible to locate the receipt and return it. Otherwise, sell it and pocket the money.

He'll deny this ever happened when you're an adult, start making your own money for yourself, and he comes knocking on your door for a loan.

When you're 18, you can move out and distance yourself from your dad. And as soon as you're able, open up another savings acct that he does not have access to.

See? You've already learned to keep your money somewhere others cannot access it. You'll thank your dad later.

Okay, I'm getting sick of this comment issue. FML Staff-Fix the god damned vanishing comments act!

On the bright side, you have an Xbox 360 now (since it was your money, he really can't get out of letting you play it too).

Wow, that sucks, kid. Better find a good hiding place for that cash in the future. And then stick your Dad in a crooked retirement home a few years from now.

your dad is selfish. unless he bought to make you think he did that and instead he is gonna give it to you as a present or something. that's what my mom did.
