Today, I came to work with a huge bruise on my arm from a small kayaking accident yesterday at the beach. Due to a loud-mouth, rumor-starting coworker, so many people think I was punched in the arm by my boyfriend now. Even my boss wanted to have a serious talk about it. FML

Talk to your boss and or hr, and explain what happened, make sure you make it VERY clear thar your bf didnt hit you, he could face jail time otherwise.

Explain that it wasn't your BF, but that you appreciate the concern and are proud that the business is concerned about its workers' physical AND mental welfare. It should hopefully keep them from NOT acting later put of fear of more false finger pointing.

OP here! All is well and they believe me, turns out it was an inappropriate joke and they think my angry reaction was "cute and funny". I wanted to punch the rumor-starter right in the face, and I'm not a violent person! It was so rude and inappropriate for the work environment. Not only that but she also grabbed my arm where I have the bruise and squeezed and said "I bet he was doing this to her so she wouldn't leave!" Don't you know bruises hurt when you squeeze hard like that?!! Argh what a bad day that was. Can't wait til I leave.

I'd report her, OP. Not just for the inappropriate joke and rumor starting, but also for squeezing your arm. That's assault and creating a toxic work environment, which is in no way okay. Don't let her get away with it.

I remember I went to work with a black eye cause my sister and I got into a bad fist fight when the manager saw all he said was "I'm guessing you didn't win this one" FML
