Today I called the ambulance because my drunk boyfriend threatened me with a knife and showed signs of an identity disorder. The ambulance personnel told me they couldn't do anything since he was fast asleep. Guess who's now stuck with a psychopathic boyfriend. FML

Next time, call general emergency services, and tell them you believe your boyfriend is having some sort of psychiatric crisis and is acting in an erratic and potentially violent manner. They should put him in the hospital. I'd also look into laws for involuntary commitments for people displaying dangerous behavior, and see if any such laws do exist. If they do, it should be easier to get him into a psych CSU than trying to do it through emergency services. That is, if you can't find a way to leave him and stay safe- look into resources for domestic abuse and see if there are any organizations that can and will help you if you need it. Set up a dead man's switch, where if someone doesn't hear from you for over a certain period of time, they either contact the authorities or check on you themself. Long term, your goal should be to break up with him, at minimum until he is stable. I would say forever, but most people seldom take that advice the first time. Also throw away all the booze. And if he asks why all the rum is gone, get creative.
