Today, a bunch of friends and I went skinny dipping in a pond. The guys all grabbed the ladies' underpants and waved then around. My bloody pad was inside of one of them. FML

the string would be hanging out if she went skinny dipping lol and the pad wouldn't have been bloody if she had a tampon. ^

I have to ask, people keep freaking over the whole "skinny dipping" while on your period..what would a swimsuit do?

That is dangerous. That will attract pond sharks...

I'm sorry. that's really nasty to go skinny dipping on your period. you deserved it for being nasty.

Ugh that's nasty. I wouldn't want to be putting back on the same underwear and blood pad when I was done. Nasty. Ugh, it just grosses me out so much. Probably just shouldn't go skinny dipping while on your period. And well, you left your underwear out in the open around a bunch of boys... what did you expect? Especially when it's not like skinny dipping is a classy situation to being with. Not like they just walked into a locker room while you were showering and did that. You were jumping naked into a pond and leaving your clothes out in the open. Not surprising the guys were doing something like that, the tone was kind of set for some slightly wild fun. Is it necessarily right of them? No, but not unexpected either.

"You left your underwear out around a bunch of boys, what did you expect?" Ummm.....how about some semblance of respect? Or perhaps for some grown ass men to not act like three year-old? It's not okay to go steal people's underwear, no matter what the situation is. The "men" should be ashamed of themselves, and deserve to be slapped.

So, 59, because she consents to one activity (skinny dipping) she consented to have her things stolen and messed with? Because, for you, it's a "trashy" activity, she deserves to be humiliated and embarrassed?

You are braver than I, to get in the water like that, on your period.

he deserves it for taking her underwear... karma

Wow, what a bunch of prudes here. So none of y'all have ever decided to have a bit of spontaneous fun even if circumstances were less than ideal? And I don't know if this is the case for OP, but I know I physically cannot put a tampon in, and I know other women who would really prefer not to. And calling OP disgusting because a bunch of guys were going around *grabbing other people's used underwear*? Um, time to have a good, long think about your definition of disgusting and who fits it, because if you're actually applying logic to the situation, the disgusting person here is NOT OP.

Right? And the "boys will be boys" attitude excusing the boys' behavior is disturbing. I, personally, wouldn't go skinny dipping (or regular dipping) in a pond (gross-- I like my water highly chlorinated), but OP did nothing wrong. The boys are the gross ones.

#76: I agree with everything you said except the "chlorinated" thing. I hate chlorinated water, and if I ever get a pool it will definitely be a saltwater pool. Anyway, "Boys will be boys" is a BS cop-out. "Boys will be boys" my lily-white behind. They should be just as accountable for their actions as any woman.

I have heard that the reason that chlorine hurts the eyes isn't because of any special properties in the chlorine itself, it's because of how it reacts to the environment around it. In short, the more your eyes burn, the more piss there is in the water! Other than that, yeah, **** the "boys will be boys" shit. Also this whole nonsense blaming OP for being biologically female, basically.

I've heard that, too. I'm not a fan of swimming in any public swimming pool--but I have a massive (and strange) phobia about fish. The thought of swimming in any natural body of water where there might be fish terrifies me. I'd rather swim in chlorinated human piss than in whatever the fish (and other organisms) are doing to that natural water *shudder*. But I'm a born and bred city girl-- nature and I don't mix.

For me, it's not the chlorine burn. I've heard that myself, but my issue with chlorine is that 1) it smells awful. I hate the chemical/chlorine smell of chlorinated water. And 2) chlorine is dangerous as all hell, even in the form it's used in pools. I've cleaned pools every summer for most of my life, if you're not mindful you could suffocate when working with the chlorine filter. Saltwater pools are just safer, and (I've heard) much easier to work with than chlorine pools. Also cheaper, from what I've heard.

So what happened next...did it fly out and hit someone?
