That'll do

Today, while my best friend's dad was dying, I raced to get her brother who I had never met. I had no idea how to make him feel better so I gave him a plastic glow-in-the-dark duck. I gave a grown man a trinket to try to make him feel better about his father dying. FML

Op, when my mom was dying, I would have loved to get a glow-in-the-dark duck. It shows someone cares, even if they do not know what to do.

What I take away from this is that you drove a man you'd never met to meet with his dying mother. It is the most precious gift you could have given.

At least you tried, with what you had. Did it work?

There's nothing wrong with a glow-in-the-dark duck. I have several myself.

You also raced to get him despite never have met him and cared enough to try and cheer him up/make him feel better. It's the sort of kindness that will never be forgotten... also. who doesn't love a glow in the dark duck?
