Thanks, son

Today, I was supposed to catch a 4:40 flight to New York. My 5 year-old son handed me my carry on bag as I left the house. Turns out he had put his older brother's BB gun into my bag to "keep me safe." I missed my flight after I was detained and strip-searched. FML

It sucks when kids do stuff like that, but they really don't know any better. Best is to tell them that they've done wrong, and hope that they won't do it again.

Hope you got compensation or put on another flight for free :/

Umm, for those who think that he is a bad father for allowing his five year old to have access to a BB gun, three words, gfy. BB guns are not life taking guns, they simply shoot a small ball that hurts if you get hit. Ever watched the movie "A Christmas Story" well those of you who have know what i'm talking about. He was not a bad parent nor should the child be punished. It's endearing to know your kid cares. Please, those of you who are 17 years old or younger, don't say anything, you have no idea what you're talking about.

U gave ur 5 yr old a BB gun? And why does he have access with a BB gun? Thats really dangerous.. but I hope nothing really bad happened to you except for the search...

I honestly gave you both. I really feel like your 5-year-old son should not have been able to access a BB gun. If he can get to it then he can hurt somebody with it. I understand it probably wasn't your fault directly, but if you're going to give a BB gun to an older child you need to make sure they are responsible enough to keep it away from younger children. On the other hand, it sucks to be the victim of a child's naivety. I sincerely hope this never happens to you again.

It's sweet your son did that. It'd be far worse if someone did that as a prank or to screw you over. What a nice kid

ARE YOU ******* RETARDED!!?? The fact that your 5-year old son was able to get his hands on a BB gun raises some serious questions about your abilities as a parent. I hope someone who hears this story calls children's aid to come take your children from you before they kill themselves. You need a serious bitch-slapping of common sense.

#116, you would be hard pressed to kill yourself with a BB gun. After the first shot it would hurt, so you would wimp out on the next one. I was born and raised with real guns, and NEVER has there been an incident when anyone was hurt more than bruises on my shoulder from a 12 gauges kick. I support your decision in educating your children in firearm safety from an early age. Thanks, OP.

FYL. i would give that child a nice, long, spanking. if i were a mother, i really wouldn't have patience for that sort of thing. i would lose my shit. i'm still young though; acquiring patience takes time! :)

awhhh, atleast you know your little boy woorries about you(:

go home and shoot the kid in the leg for being stupid

117...you are obviously American and therefore ignorant by default. Death was probably an exaggeration. How about losing an eye or giving a child the impression that guns are okay. Gun Safety is an oxymoron, Guns Kill and lax attitudes such as yours contribute the the deaths of thousands of innocent people annually, retard.
