Rich

Today, I awoke at 3am to a discoloured, swollen and excruciatingly painful left foot. After a visit to the doctor and a CT scan, I was diagnosed with gout - AKA the “rich man’s disease.” I am by no means rich and can barely pass as a man, but still get the agonising condition nonetheless. FML

It was called "Rich Man's Disease" in the middle ages. It can happen to anyone, but men are effected more often than women. I'm sorry you're in such pain! Gout is treatable now, so I hope your doc knows what to do. Diet adjustment can help considerably; foods high in purine are a culprit. My friend takes colchicine and allopurinol daily (I think) and has some steroid on hand for any sudden attack.
