My precious baby

By Anonymous - 08/11/2013 23:02 - Canada - Calgary

Today, she did it again. While I was minding my own business reading the paper, she casually walked up to me and slashed my face with her nails, drawing blood and screams of pain. I need to get out of this abusive relationship, but no one will adopt my asshole of a cat. FML

So you get beat into submission by a pussy, I see nothing out of the ordinary here

ALL cats think like this. The difference between most cats and yours is that yours actually has the guts to go through with it.

The thing about this is, there has to be something that made her that way.

falon142012 22

I agree. A lot of the time when an animal behaves like that, it's sick or hurting. OP, I would have her checked by a vet before completely giving up hope.

116, animals are just like people. Most humans that are mean had someone be mean to them once. Every bully was once a victim. So the cat could've been tortured or something. Animals and people RARELY "come that way."

Your a guy with a cat! It comes with the territory I'm a dog man myself

Unless OP is allergic or knows they don't have the proper lifestyle to care for a dog properly.

if you look at 102's profile you'll see they're an intense antidog person, and for some reason thought their FML profile was the best forum to go on a tirade. you know what fully protects your cats from dogs(who were just acting like animals?).keeping them inside. my cat was hit by a car. why? she didn't stay inside. however I'm not ranting on a silly little profile like a maniac. weirdo.

206- attacking for mourning my 18 year old cat that was viciously attacked to death by dogs? Wow, very mature of you. The dogs were on my property, where they didn't ******* belong. I'm not anti-dog, I'm anti-fucktards who can't take care of their animals properly. Those dogs could've attacked a little kid just as badly as my cat. They should've been kept inside their backyard. Instead their dumbass owner let them get loose and they jumped over our gate and attacked my cat, who WAS on my property, probably napping. My profile is telling pet owners to be ******* responsible for their pets. Like keeping them the **** on your property if they're gonna kill other pets. I'm not anti-dog. Get over yourself.

Not to get too technical but, they don't do the 'toes'. Just the front paws. When expressing outrage, express the facts properly. All four are done if there is an infection etc, that requires it for the cats health. And yes this is going to get downvoted but dammit! facts!

@ 42 in some cases they doin fact declaw both front and back. Did you know that cats that are declawed actually have to learn to walk all over again due to loss of balance? "When expressing outrage, express the facts properly." #facts

mansen 15

@48 you don't say? Depends on the country. Depends on the vet. And depends if the surgery was screwed up. That being said. How many people have actually encountered a declawed cat? Both mine are front declawed. older than dirt so they had to get declawed at the same time when they were fixed. Before the procedure was done, I tried everything to modify their behaviour. One liked to grapple up walls and humans, she also liked to knead incessantly, with claws. The other, no matter how many different types of scratching posts and training techniques used, he prefered the corners of walls, the ones without things attached for him to scratch on. They didn't have those claw thingies back then. After each cat hhad the procedure done, once they were home, they were right back at getting ontobthe counters, on the fridge, in the cupboards. One even went to stealth dive bombing a dog whenever it walked through the living room. Flattened the poor dog from a good height. And one still 'sharpens his front claws' on wall corners. They never ever had a problem. It was a better solution than other ppls on here of 'get rid of the cat', or the constant shocked "ow dammit ow' grab and toss cat from blind pain. Now this is personal experience with my two cats. And they are strictly indoor only. Ancient as hell and happy and mischievous still. I still query vets about the procedure and their opinions and the impacts on cats etc. so. yeah boo. I have declawed cats. boo. But, my relationship with them for almost 2 decades has been great. And they walk, jump, pounce, etc fine. But again. Personal experience, and just my two cats. so as indicated above. downvote away.

OP appears to live in Canada, where declawing is not illegal. I am all for declawing the front paws of an indoor only cat. Every cat I have owned has had it's front claws declawed at the same time as they got spayed/neutered. Here in Ohio where I live, it's rare to find a vet that won't do the front paws, though very few will do both front and back.

51, How sad that you don't realise that their kneeding was an expression of affection. It's a behaviour they learn from the time they're kittens; they kneed in order to promote the flow of milk from the mother while suckling. When they do it to humans, it's definitely in happiness. I'm sorry you couldn't deal with it. Maybe a thick blanket would have been in order first. Many cats refuse to use the litterbox after getting declawed because the coarser litter begins to hurt their toes. It's an extremely cruel practice and no one should do it before reading up on it extensively first. Cats are not toys, they're independent beings. As for OP, your cat sounds bored. You should play with her and maybe then she'll stop seeing you as a plaything for pounces and scratches.

If you suggest this, you know absolutely nothing about it. It's ambutating at the last knuckle. Very painful.

51 & 59- you are both assholes. If you can't deal with the fact that cats have claws, then DON'T HAVE CATS!!!!! Pretty ******* simple solution. You have no right to decide that they should have their claws removed. It is a painful, cruel, and unnecessary procedure. How would you like it if I just decided to drag you to the doctor to have the tips of your fingers chopped off, just because I felt like it? People like you are what's wrong with the world. Smarten up and get off your ******* high horse.

hey veganvampyre and the ones chastising. Reading comprehension skills. No litterbox problems. ever. The kneading was one problem. Among many. Missed the part of trying all advice of positive and negative reinforcement? My cats are old so they were done at 6 mths when that was the time one could get them fixed. In that time before then, consultations with vets and many people about trying to fix problems before that. It wasn't a decision of 'oh, **** trying nothing, lets just declaw'. I also have one cat who is not declawed. Because she did not have any of the problems I had with the others and oh! those soft claw caps are now available, when they were not almost 20 years ago. So get off your high horse in making assumptions that it was a decision done lightly. Never said it was. I said in personal experience, my cats who are, never experienced those horrific problems ppl spout on about, it wasn't done just because, and it was done when everything else failed. I am not a luddite. I research everything and how to try and fix problems and procedures I am going to have done, consult the professionals. Yeesh.

I can't stomach the people whining and moaning "abuse, abuse" that's like saying getting a cat fixed is abuse. they put em under, slice them open and snip their innards. I had a cat that was declawed when I found her in the alley. she was absolutely fine. she even hunted better than my other cats. how sad you don't realize cats have scent glands in their paws and they knead to spread their scent. go piss and cry to the people that clip their dogs' tails and ears for absolutely no reason at all.

mansen 15

@veganvampyre. 'I am whats wrong with the world'??? So rescuing strays, donating to rescue societies, helping out people in need, helping my friends in need no questions asked etc, makes me what is wrong with the world? You must have an extremely narrow definition of what is right.

207- well let's just cut off your fingers up to you first knuckle, or even farther. That's not abuse right? That's what it's like for cats when you declaw them. So just shut the hell up. it's just as bad if not worse than the people who cut their dogs ears and tails for no reason. Don't like claws? Dont own a cat.

sassypants93 17

She clearly said that she thought getting a cat spayed was not abuse. And when the alternative to getting declawed is to be put in a shelter or thrown on the street, wouldn't the cat be better off with an owner who loves it and plays with it. Some pain and readjustment would be worth it to me.

231- okay, let's cut off all your fingers up to your first or second knuckles. Cause the pain and adjustment would be worth it in the long run right? How about no? If you don't like claws, don't get an animal that has claws, it's that simple. It's like getting into a relationship and expecting the other person to change something fundamental about themselves. It's idiotic, you knew who the person was before getting into a committed relationship (hopefully) you can't just expect them to change something for your comfort if it's necessary for their survival and for a better quality of life. You can't tell me cats don't need their claws or that having them deteriorates the cats quality of life. It's a selfish thing we do as humans to try and cut off parts of the animal that we find slightly annoying. Spaying and neutering is different because if a cat or dog has too many litters it can really take a toll on their body. Not to mention the health risk to the animals if you end up having more than you can take care of properly. Basically, it comes down to responsibility. If you take on a pet you're responsible for it. It's like a baby, it'll pretty much be dependent on you for food, water, shelter, affection, medical care, etc. Animals, like babies, come with messes and the need to discipline. If you're not willing to deal with either of those, don't get a pet.

1PersonIsMyWorld 22

did your parents get rid of you when you ****** up? don't b heartless.

One letter, man. Just one letter. Would it have been so hard to type it?

YDI give the cat to ur Asian friends!! Bahahah

Lack of attention, perhaps? :P .. I doubt she'd do it just for heck of it. Cats can indeed be eeevuhl freaking creatures if not treated right, but most people get cats thinking they basically just take care of themselves, which isn't true. They need training as well, just like dogs. If it really IS that bad however, I suggest you getting some help with her behavior. Would make it easier get her adopted or even living with her.

I have a jerk cat too. But with mine, if I don't attempt to touch her, she is nice. she can rub against my leg all she wants, but as soon as I reach my hand out, I get swatted at. I just wanna be like, "why won't you let me love you?!" ):
