Today, I asked my 5-year-old nephew to clean up his mess of toys. He responded by kicking my foot. My bandaged foot which was still recovering from my surgery last week. I'm probably going to need another operation to fix the damage. FML

#4. There are times where it's ok to hit a child. This is one of them. The child is 5, and knows exactly what it's doing. It know when someone is injured and that what it is doing is causing pain/harm. The child needs to know that what you put out, you get back in spades. If he gets away with it, he will do it again. And he might really hurt someone someday.
