Today, trying to look cool, I threw my coke bottle in the air and tried catching it with one hand, but I missed and it fell to the floor. Luckily, it wasn't open, so in my unimaginable stupidity, I opened it in less than 5 seconds later. FML

In the future, you can open it just a tiny bit & let the carbonation hiss out so it doesn't soak you. Harder to manage with a bottle cap but still possible.

It's easier with a bottle because you can just close it back up if the foam gets too high.
