Today, I had a seizure while at the airport, ready to go on vacation with my family. We ended up missing our flight. My mom spent most of the ride home making cracks about how I'm always ruining things with my "dramatics". Sorry that I have epilepsy, mom. FML

sorry for you op. not something your mother should be joking about. If you take anti-seizure or any other medication for epilepsy she should have helped you reviewed your medication schedule to be sure nothing was missed. Anyway good luck!

That was horrible, specially coming from your mom, I'm sorry OP. :( On the other hand, there's a guy in my dance class who can induce his epileptic seizures whenever our attention isn't turned to him, which is just terrifying for everyone in the class... So I kinda get her point of view. But I believe that's not the case for you, so hang on OP, remember that your epilepsy does not define who you are, stay strong :)

Seizures can cause lasting damage to a person. If the guy is causing seizures, that's like the equivalent of just hitting your head against the wall, and he really needs therapy, or his seizures just aren't under control and his classmates are dicks.

"Making jokes" about seizures is not funny. Being a person who has a seizure disorder (it's not epilepsy), I know how much having seizures suck. My sister has made jokes about mine, and that hurts. It is very, very wrong to make jokes about someone's disorder.

I'm so sorry OP. Your mom is an asshat. Your condition needs to be taken seriously, she should understand by now that there are no "dramatics" in having sezuires. They are scary, random things that can ruin your life if you let them. Your mom needs to grow up.
