Cat fight

Today, we got a new kitten, and my older cat is not happy. I just learned that my fiance doesn't interfere when they fight. He says watching my old fat cat chase the kitten is the funniest thing he's seen all month. FML

He’s onto something. Let them make peace with one another and don’t interfere unless one of them is getting hurt.

As harsh as it is, he got a point there. Putting a young, energetic cat with a senior cat is never a good idea, and you have to introduce both cats properly. Also, you now know that your fiance won't help you with the introduction.

Did you bother to research how to introduce cats to each other or did you just plump new cat down in old cats territory and assume it would be fine? Did it occur to you that old cat was probably perfectly happy as an only cat and you wanting a new kitten is going to make his senior years unhappy? Do you actually see that your fiancé finds two innocent animals attacking and traumatising each 'the funniest thing he's seen all month'? Does he laugh at dog fights too? People who find amusement in animals hurting and being unhappy aren't really the best sort, are they? Hmmm? 🤨
