A teacher's burden

Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML

Kids will cry over anything, although it sucks you have to deal with it. Sorry charlie. And how shitty of the mom to just come by tell the bad news and leave.

The kid's mom didn't take him/her home? Jeez.

aww that's so cute in a sad way. you know? in a way they were all supporting their friend.

I think it was just a chain reaction... but thinking of it that way kind of makes sense as well as make it cute only in that way.

#8 Kinda messed up you think kids crying is cute... Also, this sucks. You should've rung the parent back and told them to come pick their kid up. It's not fair on the kid or you for them to be in school at a time like that.

um...#12...wow, don't really know what to say to that lol

IT COULD HAVE BEEN A RIVAL CHILD'S PARENT! HOW DEVIOUS WOULD THAT BE!!

Aww!! Why the hell didn't the parent take the kid out of class then? It wasn't fair for them to leave you to deal with the tears and sadness after that. :(

Oh... so many Ferris Bueller quotes that are appropriate... /Will just spare you all from them.

God forbid you need to comfort people. Life sucks when people depend on you to be happy. Get a soul.

WTF?? What an idiot parent. What was the point of telling the kid if she wasn't going to take him/her home? "Honey... Grammy's dead... See you at 3:00!" WTF on so many levels.
