Today, my dad took away my Xbox because "You never do anything active." I had just run a 5K. FML

That’s a nice warm-up, Junior, but knock out a half-marathon or a triathlon if you want your toy back.

Could someone with children explain why some parents are like this? This reminded me of the time my father scolded me daily for a week because he never saw me study nor doing homework, until I got fed up and answered: "dad, I swear to you I cannot achieve anything higher than perfect grades". I was my High School's Valedictorian

The 5k has to be in real life for it count, not rdr2 .

Go for a walk/run with him, if he's anything like my parents they don't believe it unless they see it but they also refuse to see it.

It’s a parental thing. They like to lecture you and for some parents, they’re visual creatures. If they don’t actively see you doing such tasks they assume you’re not even if you are and want to make sure they’re doing their job to keep you on track. Parent logic

Your dad probably wants you to do work around the house.

If so, then it would seem the direct approach failed so Dad resorted to this.
