Today, my dad bought me my first car. On the way home, he crashed it. FML

No problem: if your dad was driving it, he must have insurance, or he was breaking the law. His insurance company will pay for any damages if he was at fault. If someone else was at fault, then their insurance company will pay. That's why insurance is mandatory for drivers.

Wow! Your driving record is terrible! Zero miles driven, one accident! You ought to drive for over.

That’s the logical answer, but in bureaucracies, they’ll figure that the car intended for the OP was involved in a crash.

Go back to the dealer and complain about the tiny dent, they should fix it no questions asked.

Nope. You're only required to have liability insurance UNLESS it is a brand new car that the bank technically owns via loan, in which case you need full coverage. Since it's the dad's fault- and I doubt someone got a new car for their first car- they are SOL
