Today, my 19-year-old son told me his girlfriend is pregnant, and was diagnosed with an STD. He's sure that he's the father. He's also sure he doesn't have an STD, because he's a virgin. I had to give him the sex talk that his school never did, as well as explain to him that his girlfriend is a cheater. FML

Why do parents expect the school to do everything for them? It's not their job to teach your child about sex so YDI

I'm sorry, but if your son is 19 and doesn't know how babies are made, or how STD's are transmitted, you have failed as a parent.

If he's your kid then It's your job to teach him everything he needs to live life. What other important things did you not teach him because you thought you could put your responsibilities on someone else?

If he didn't realise that by 19, maybe reproducing isn't such a good idea anyway.

1) why did his school never give home sex ed 2) if the school never did why didn't you YDI &FYL at the same time

My school did AND my parents did. Educating your children is part of having them. It's not someone else's responsibility.

Your son is 19 and you relied on your school to explain sex to him?? YDI for shitty parenting. You're lucky you're not a grandma already

And your blaming the school because... He is your kid, your responsibility. But at least your son does not have any diseases nor gotten anyone pregnant

This is stuff that you need to discuss with your child.

You relied on school to teach your child about sex?! YDI for not being a responsible parent and talking to them about it. But it's also kinda unbelievable since he's 19.
