Today, I let my dogs out, and then realized they didn't have their electric fence collars on. I ran inside to get the collars, then dashed out to put them on my dogs. I ran through the electric fence. The collars were on. FML

My dogs have one, and before I even bought it I tried it. If I am putting it on my babies, I figure I should know what it feels like. The system does work and now most of the time it's not even on.

These collars dont even give a electric shock. They issues a low static show when the dog starts to move closer to the beginning of the barrier and slowly give a higher static shock when they come closer to the end of the barrier. OP could have just gotten these training tool and she forgot to put it on. These collars are great training tool and dogs have a higher threshold of pain then humans do. Not to mention a dogs neck is a lot thicker then humans. The collar can also help your dog walk off leash. When I pull out my collar for my dog she gets excited. Why? Because she can walk off leash! Use positive reinforcement when you use these collars and the dog will love them. Most of these ***** here shouldn't own a dog because they don't know dogs are different and have possibly tried a lot of different methods of training before using these collars. Get educated retards.

Why not use positive reinforcement instead of using the collars. And why are you so defensive about using them, resorting to calling people who disagree with you "retards", if there's nothing wrong with it?

There has to be a negative then followed by a positive in order to train a dog properly. If it's all positive then the dog won't learn from right and wrong. It's upsets me to see how under educated dog owners are when it comes to this type of thing.

Wow, some people put entirely to much thought into this. Its not animal cruelty, I have one & our dogs have only gotten shocked 2 or 3 times. After the 1st or 2nd time of being shocked they don't test it.

Wait, your life is ****** because you did to yourself what you do to your dogs everyday? YDI.

I'm calling bullshit. For him to have been shocked by the collars he would have had to hand around both pegs that deliver the shock. In collars I've seen they are in the shape of dull spikes connected to a heavy box. Naturally uncomfortable to grab and hold. Wait to go mods!

That's what you get for buying them for your dogs. I hate how people think certain things aren't unpleasant to animals just because they don't have the vocal chords to say so. I have a dog and I trained her well without those stupid collars. Try doing the same and spare the poor creatures.

And how would you know if their pain tolerance is higher? Are you a dog in your spare time?
