Today, I let my dogs out, and then realized they didn't have their electric fence collars on. I ran inside to get the collars, then dashed out to put them on my dogs. I ran through the electric fence. The collars were on. FML

Today, my dogs broke through our electric fence, one of whom managed to get his collar off. I picked it up and, without thinking, went across the fence line. I screamed like a chihuahua being run over by a bulldozer. FML

Today, I walked out into my backyard. As I did so, my dogs ran past me, slamming the sliding door off its track. I went to catch it, and knocked the bird cage over. To complete the fumble, as I turned to catch the bird cage, I stepped in a dog turd. I wasn't wearing shoes. We're all okay, but… FML

Today, our electric horse fence broke. I turned it off so I could fix it. As I was grabbing the fence, my brother thought it would be hilarious to turn the fence back on. FML

Today, I untied the rope that was tied to my dog's collar because it was wrapped around the tree choking him. He immediately ran off down the street. I had to chase him barefoot in my boxers for 20 minutes till he got tired. FML

Today, while letting horses out to switch pasture, one ran at me, sending me through the electric fence and into a mud puddle. Wrapped in electric fence, I sat in that electric mud puddle, screaming every time it shocked me. Help arrived, once they'd had a good long laugh. FML

Today, my dog chewed through his leash, so I had to take him inside to prevent him from running off. I went to bed. I woke up to torn-up blinds, half-ate sandals, and a very, very anxious cat due to my dog running after her and trying to sniff her butt. FML

Today, I was putting my horse away into her pasture, when I slipped in the mud. In a haisty attempt to support myself, I grabbed the electric fence in on hand, and my horse with the other. The shock from the fence traveled through me to her, sending her running and leaving me with 2 broken teeth. FML

Today, I was going for a relaxing walk but my dog broke free from his leash. At the same time, my 80 year-old neighbor was leaving her apartment. My dog ran inside her home and she screamed. I ended up in her bedroom, running around her bed, chasing my dog who was trying to get at her pantyhose. FML

We got our dog a shock collar for him after having him for a year. We gave him plenty of room to run within the barrier, we just had to get the collar because even after having him fixed and endless hours of trying to teach him to stay, he would still run away for days at a time. We got the collar, and trained him with it (When you first get it, you don't turn on the shocking mechanism - You put these yellow flags all around the barrier, and take him for a walk every hour around it, and scold him when he gets too close the the barrier and it starts to beep, then congratulate him when he walks away), and he learned it really quick, and then the collar wasn't even necessary so we took it off him. tl;dr, The shock collars aren't cruel.

If you have a dog you don't shock it when it does something wrong. You have the responsibility to take care of the living creature. Would you put an electric collar around your children if they didn't listen? Build a fence, shocking them isn't the way to teach them, you're not teaching them you're putting fear in them so if they cross the barrier they know something bad is going to happen. You're cruel for making your animals live in fear

this is ******* fake. how could you run inside to get the collars, then run back outside to put them on when they were already on?... they weren't even in the house.
