Think of it this way: your fiancé spent $20 more on your ring than Prince William spent on Kate's ring. Seriously, not every woman gets a 3-carat colorless flawless diamond with her proposal, but every woman deserves a ring she'll enjoy. This is why I believe in popping the question without the ring, and going shopping together. Disclosure: Yes, I have a real diamond engagement ring, but it's a small one, so we could stick to my DH's budget (He was only 23 when he bought it). I'm a liberated woman, so in return I bought him a lab-created blue sapphire ring within my budget.
It doesn't matter if the ring is cheap or not; what counts is that he got her the best he could offer (after all it is a symbol of the declaration of your deep, undying love). When my parents got engaged they were both still in college with no financial support from family (my mom's was too poor to give her any, and my dad's cut him off after a fall out due to the fact that he wanted to marry my mom). Her first engagement/wedding ring was not very expensive, (the diamond on it was so small that she didn't even notice when it fell off), yet she loves it, and ,even though my dad later replaced it with a better one, she still has it on display at our house. If OP's fiancee was too poor to afford anything else than she shouldn't be complaining, but if he could and just didn't think she was worth the the extra money or even just the gas and hassle of picking one out at J.C. Penny than he is a jerk.
I'll be honest, this is how I look at. Let's say you are some teenager who really wants an iPod, and your parents are going to get you an iPod. You get the iPod, but it's not the iPod you wanted, let's say you got the shuffle when you wanted the iPod touch. Well despite the cost and features both objects will play music. Just because one cost more and what not does that mean it can't do the same thing and play music? Also, op your fiancé could be going through a tough time with money. Yes, I can see how some can see how op is being "materialistic", but I can also see how some people see that op isn't being materialistic. To wrap up what I'm saying is people react to things differently. :)
bad comparisonnn. the ipod touch is better than the shuffle because it can go on the internet and take pictures and stuffs.:] just sayin
You should be aware that unless she's engaged for the rest of her life, she won't be wearing it after they marry. The ONLY exception to this is if she combines the wedding ring and the engagement ring like my sister did. But who in their right mind would try to weld plastic to metal? You're just plain ignorant and mentally impaired in general. It's not even fair to bring your country of origin into this.
Uhh...no?! When my husband and I got married he got me an entirely new wedding set because the wedding band that matched my engagement ring broke when being resized to fit me. After the wedding I wore my wedding set on the left hand and my engagement ring on the right hand. People have two hands, you know?!
How ironic. I was watching the infomercial for that ring just last night and commented on how stupid it was! The entire ring is fake. Fake sapphire, fake diamonds, and the band is only silver plated. How cheap. Sorry for your luck, but at least he didn't get your ring from a gumball machine for 50 cents!

The important thing is that you like it and he got it for you.
it's the thought that counts as long as it's beautiful why does it even matter and money is hard these days so wow
