dumbass
You deserved it. I don't see why the cop was wrong. It drives me CRAZY when people won't let me pass, what the hell was he supposed to do? From the sound of it, he wasn't even baiting you, he was just trying to get by. If someone wants to drive faster than you, let them by. You don't need to teach other drivers a lesson.
FYLYDImethinx. Sucks, but you kinda helped that one along. Oh and #37, you've jinxed yourself, be careful now, lol.
i did the practically same thing except he didn't give me a ticket!!! :)
#110... you're completely right. If you arent running radar, you can ticket someone for speeding by "pacing" them for a set distance (set by your state and dept), which is why it would take a while to pull someone over. Also, in my state, its also a ticket-able offense for traveling in the left lane, because you're supposed to keep right, pass left. Honestly, they were probably giving your dumb ass a chance to move over, but when you didnt, then that's when they lit you up. But yeah... in order to pace someone to get their speed, you DO have to be fairly close. That's why officers take driving courses, so if something DID happen, and you DID have to slam on your brakes, they wouldn't hit you. Next time, just set your cruise control or maintain your speed, be in the right lane, and if you don't screw up, you wont get a ticket. Duh. lol
If someone continued to tailgate you as you sped up, wouldnt it be a good idea to just change lanes and let him by (assuming there is a second lane)?
I've definitely had the exact same thing happen to me before
It's stupid people like you that cause accidents. If that car wasn't a cop car & tried to pass you out there's a strong chance there would've been a crash. Idiot.
Cop cars tailgate when they're planning to pull you over. That's the only reason he was tailgating in the first place. But then if you keep getting faster, he'll be happy to write you a fatter ticket by waiting a bit to turn on the lights. Also, if you want to keep a car from passing you, generally you do it by switching lanes when he does, getting in the way. Getting faster to prevent him passing hardly accomplishes anything -- after all, the only reason the car wants to pass is to go faster, so it's not like you're keeping him from anything... You totally deserved this one.
The cop probably initially wanted to get around him, because he had somewhere to go, but a non-priority call that does not call for lights. However, when you decided to be a dick and just not let him pass, he instead decided to follow you for awhile and see what other dick points you would rack up, and then pulled you over. Next time, move over.

I slow down for tailgaters. Wouldn't change if it were a cop. It's one of those moments where you just pray a deer would jump in front of you so that you could slam on your breaks and the moron would crash right into you for following too close.
