Today, while shopping with my 6-year-old daughter, she said, "Mommy, remember you wanna get duck tape!" A middle-aged guy nearby scoffed and told her, "DUCT, not DUCK. Dumb cunt." I ended up having to drive my bawling daughter home, with no shopping. FML

He's the dumb ****. It is named duck tape because it was originally made with duck cloth, same stuff Carhartt clothes and the painted backdrops for plays are made of. The manufacturers started cutting down on the thread count to save money and today they use the bare minimum so it doesn't resemble canvas anymore. As for ducts- since heat softens the adhesive & shrivels the tape, duck tape is a horrible choice for ducts that carry hot air. I suppose it might be usable on cold air ducts. But still, the fact remains, it is not commonly used on ducts and was not named after ducts.
