Not going out

By not drunk - This FML is from back in 2014 but it's good stuff - Brazil - Santa Maria

Today, I've been one year sober. My health has improved a lot, unlike my social life, which has died a horrible, lonely death. FML

Today, after two years of chronic usage, I’m 26 days sober off weed. About 2 months off nicotine. One year off psychedelics. But I’m more bored, lonely, sad, and frustrated than ever. Connections scares me as much as I crave them, and what connections I do make barely scratch the surface. I'm doing my best but it feels the worst. FML

Just goes to show that those people weren't really your friends. There are so many other things in life to occupy your time..... You don't need a type of drug to have a good time.

Your body thanks you, if your old friends can't handle the fact that you don't drink anymore then maybe they weren't true friends and it's time to find friends who don't just want to drink.

This may not be the intent of the op but what came to my mind is that op can't interact appropriately around the opposite sex and hasn't had company over in quite some time. Just a thought

Your health is more important than your social life

just rebuild your social life on a foundation that isn't based off of your previous addiction. you are a strong individual for making it where you are now. i don't know you, but i am proud of you, OP!

Then you need to find new friends. Or, believe it or not, an AA group. There are frequent parties, or groups going out together. I drank pretty much every day from high school till my 40's. Half the people I went to high school with still party constantly. I've been sober 5 years & don't miss it a bit. I go out dancing, to parties, etc. The ONLY difference between my drinking days & now is that, I no longer end up making a fool of myself by getting sick, being unable to talk or whatever, I don't have to worry about cops as I drive home, and I feel great the next day.

That's awesome 36! To have been drinking for most of your life and to be able to stop and turn your life around is extremely impressive. Good job!

Congratulations on the year sober. You're going to have to go out and find friends based around mutual interests that don't involve drinking and drugging. Ask yourself "Who am I? What are my interests? What did I used to like to do for fun before drugs and alcohol took over my life?" Go out and do those things, and you'll meet like-minded people who like to do those things also, and maybe some of them will become your friends. It's not going to be easy but the friends you make that way will be worth it.

My mother has gone to alcoholics anonymous and she met a lot of friends there
