To those saying "spilt" is incorrect- I would like to refer you to a glorious book, stuffed to the brim with words. It's called a 'Dictionary', and if you happen to stumble upon one, and look up the word "spilt" you will find that it is a perfectly acceptable past tense word for "spill".
Well it's less so that and more that the American proper term is, in fact, spilled. Spilt isn't an American-English word at all. However, this FML is from England so there, spilt is correct and spilled isn't. So those saying OP is wrong aren't right... but they aren't 100% wrong either.
