Defense!

Today, I came home from work to find that my neighbor's trash bins were still on the curb. While returning the bins to her backyard, her kid ran out and shot me with a paintball gun. Multiple times. He thought I was a burglar and ruined my new suit. FML

While I don't really know the whole story, but I do know that my neighbors are really nice and just the type of people that would put our trashcans or whatever back in our driveway if they blew away or we left them out, and we'd do the same for them, so... fyl.

The boy's in for a big surprise if he does that to a real burglar!

Valuable garbage cans they've got, eh? What a psycho kid. I think he just needed an excuse to shoot someone with paintballs. Keep a water gun filled with paint on your person from now on.

hahaha #6 crazy kids. they're in every neighborhood. and 97...... thats amazing. im gonna try that now. :)

paintball paint washes off. im sure you can take it to a dry cleaners and it'll be good as new. :)

yes paintballs are washable, not ruined. funny story tho

To people who said YDI, you're all idiots. This is why humans are so dumb. We need more people like the OP in this world and less of you idiots that thinks he deserves it for doing something nice.

**** that kid too, he knew you weren't a damn burglar. No burglar dresses up in a suit, steals trashcans by taking them to the back of your house, generally resembles your neighbor, and is deterred by a paintball gun. The kid was testing out his paintball gun. And drycleaning won't get that out. :-/ All the YDIs are being stupid.

Has anyone considered the fact that this may be a town-home set up? If that were the case the two houses probably share a common side alley which leads to adjoining back yards, which might be separated by a fence. This kind of arrangement is common in many suburbs, so he may not have even been behind the neighbor's house. So, for anyone who said it was creepy or that the backyard was off-limits, you may just be imagining the wrong kind of house. For all the YDIs, if he knows the neighbor well enough to know that it's "Her kid" he probably knows them well enough to pull their trashcans off the curb. It may have merely been a kind gesture, or since he'd just gotten back from work the cans could have been partially blocking his driveway. Either way, there is no way he "deserved" getting pelted with paint for trying to be helpful. As for everyone who said the paint will wash out, this might be true for jeans and t-shirts, but many of the fabrics from which suits are made (linen, wool, tweed or silk) stain far more easily, so he many not be able to just wash the suit and have it as good as new. OP: I hope your suit washes out well enough for everyday wear. Thank you for being a good neighbor in these apparently volatile times.

We probably moved it because it was making the street look ugly as hell, i do that sometimes
