Wow, that's a pretty douchey move on your brother's part. I know time is valuable, but if you can't spend a little time with your family members for special occasions such as birthdays ... I hope that he has a legitimate excuse such as a work commitment. Hopefully you can spend the day with people who appreciate you. Happy Birthday, OP!

I have been noticing this gift card obsession with my siblings too. People have forgotten the true meaning of gifts. Gifts are no longer given out of love/respect/gratitude. They are given out of obligation (because you gave it last time) or just to impress others...or heck, gifts are given just for the sake of it. This is a bad trend.

Maybe he was talking about something that he can buy for you. don't think of it negatively. Unless he said it with atttude.. but if you think about it, he could've just meant gift wise.
