What a rude a teacher. I work in education, and I hate seeing things like this. I've worked with so many students who hate school, due to teachers who act like this.

Exactly! If I was OP I'd be nervous about every speaking up in class again. Surely a teacher is supposed to be inspiring and encouraging, not mocking and patronising?!

A lot of people don't realize how utterly frustrating it is attempting to teach young minds who refuse to be taught. They just stare at you despondently, and you can practically see them cursing you silently. When a student actually knows the answer, it makes the day just a bit brighter.

28- While your point is valid, a lot of teachers don't realize how badly reactions such as this can affect the student. When I was an advisor for an online high school, many students told me how stupid their previous teachers made them feel, because they were treated in ways similar to this situation. It's a two way street when it comes to education.
