A girl in my class did something similar once. We had a male teacher and this girl responded to the register with 'Yes Miss'. He replied 'I think you meant to finish that sentence with '-ter Smith' didn't you'!! OP, it's easily done if you aren't paying attention.

if only you knew how bad my teachers were. They would yell at us every day for no reason, and I'm not even a little bit kidding. even if we told the principle, he would do nothing. there was a Spanish teacher named mrs. downs who cussed out a kid once a week. Now you feel how I feel?
