Well help him get a boyfriend then. Or you could talk to him about coming out to your mum, I can imagine it's tricky, but if it keeps putting you in an awkward place, just tell him if he doesn't, you will do it for him. I'm sure that'll encourage him. Or just tell your mum that he doesn't want you to help him, you don't need to say why, or if she insists, just tell her to ask him.
