Where there's a will, there's a way

Today, I got a text from my husband’s adult son offering help. I’ve been my husband’s caretaker for 4 years as he battled Parkinson’s and cancer. His son never called once to offer help; when I asked, he refused. Sadly, my husband passed last month. Now his son is offering help because they can’t find the will. FML

the state should have a copy of the will as last updated in their probate division. at least that is what we ran into when we lost some family. without that, you, as spouse gets everything.

If there's a will, there's a way. At this point, it's easy to think the son is a heartless, greedy prick, but we don't know the whole story.

Not it all states. In Texas, if you die intestate (without your nuts, for some reason) 2/3 of your estate goes to your children and 1/3 to your spouse.

What help does he offer?
